Performances

I have been performing since 2004 and was featured in San Francisco Magazine’s Best of the Bay for yoga music in 2009. I am a performance artist, singer and multi-instrumentalist. I started my music career in Korea in 2004 and performed at festivals across the country, including the Chuncheon Mime Festival.

Starting in 2006, I began performing solo shows that incorporated storytelling, music, singing, movement and theater at APAture and other Bay Area festivals and venues. In 2008, I co-produced, directed and performed in a collaborative theater show Border Out at the Queer Arts Festival that told the stories of queer immigrants. I received another grant from the Queer Cultural Center for the 2012 Queer Arts Festival and co-produced, directed and performed in Mixed, Blended & Whole, an interdisciplinary show that examined mixed-race identity, trans-racial adoption, and interracial relationships. I continued collaborating in a devised theater show at Z Space that examined the Colma graveyard and moving of bodies in July 2014. I also wrote and starred in a solo interdisciplinary show Sowing and Sewing at Stagewerx Theater in December 2015. This piece examined Korea’s colonization, overseas adoption, and healing family ties. In December 2018, I performed a show for Solo Performance Workshop on ancestral stories and healing intergenerational trauma and my trans identity.

When I am not doing performance art, I perform solo and group musical concerts. I play didgeridoo, djembe, Arabic tambourine, cajon, Native flute, harmonica, piano, esraj, and sing. I play a fusion of Indian, Middle Eastern, blues, gospel, and Eastern shamanic sounds. I have graced the main stage at SF Jazz, San Francisco Pride, the Asian Heritage Street Festival in SF, the San Francisco International Arts Festival, Empowering Women of Color Conference in Berkeley, California Academy of Sciences, and Esalen Yoga/Music Festival, Wanderlust, and Om Rising.

I also delivered keynotes, taught workshops, and performed at the Queer and Asian Conference at UC Berkeley, Humboldt State University’s Queer film festival, and the IEATA Expressive Arts Conference in Berkeley.

I am available for solo and group performances, house concerts, keynotes, theater directing and collaboration, sound baths, fundraisers, and more.

A main way to catch me performing these days is in yoga classes where I provide the healing soundscape and intuitive musical soundtrack.
